Salvation Army

Story

British Consul-General Steph Lysaght will be raising vital funds for the Salvation Army. Consul-General Lysaght will try his hand at flight, teaming up with BAE systems to design an aerodynamic flying machine, destined for great heights all in the name of fun and raising awareness for a worthy cause.

The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 works passionately with those who live on the fringes of society within the City of Melbourne.

The heartbeat of Project 614 is the Magpie Nest Cafe.  Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the cafe serves free meals to Melbourne's most vulnerable community members.

Project 614 supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, those suffering from serious mental health issues, people affected by a range of addiction issues and people who are suffering from social poverty.   Based at the top end of Bourke Street, the team have hundreds of interactions each day with people aged from 9 to 93.

As well as supplying meals, clothing and counselling, The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 also works with clients to help create pathways out of their current state of marginalisation. These pathways include training, volunteering, employment and accommodation options.

We couldn’t do this without your help! Please give generously and partner with us, we can’t do this without you.
