Metro Bird
Story
Become a lasting part of the ‘Metro Bird’ team by contributing to Australia’s leading national breast cancer research organisation, the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Day and night, the team are usually busy building Victoria’s largest transport infrastructure projects.
And while we’d love Metro Bird to fly a game changing 9 km over the Yarra, we’re more focused on funding game-changing breast cancer research - to help save lives.
By donating to team Metro Bird, you will help address these stats:
• In 2021, over 3,000 Australians passed away from breast cancer – including 36 men and 3102 women
• Over 20,000 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, making it the most diagnosed cancer in Australia
• Currently, 1 in 7 women and 1 in 700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
• Breast cancer diagnoses have increased by 36% in the past 10 years.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s ultimate goal is to achieve Zero Deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
It is committed to funding a broad range of research aimed at developing better ways to prevent, detect and treat breast cancer – and to improve the quality of life and outcomes for patients.
However, to achieve this goal, the Foundation relies entirely on the generosity of members of the public – people like you.
Activity
National Breast Cancer Foundation
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Research is the only way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. By funding only world-class research, the National Breast Cancer Foundation is working towards a goal of zero deaths from breast cancer.
